Riglayer features
Riglayer combines an overlay editor for OBS with the tools you need during a Twitch broadcast: alerts, chat, counters, timers, quizzes, tournaments and control via phone or Stream Deck. Here is what each area can do.
Overlay editor in your browser
You build your stream overlay on a canvas in Full HD (1920 × 1080), HD (1280 × 720) or WQHD (2560 × 1440). The editor shows a live preview; everything you move or change is visible immediately.
- Move and scale elements with the mouse, with magnet snapping to edges and other elements and pixel measurements
- Multi-select, align and distribute, copy, paste, duplicate, sort layers by dragging
- Undo and redo (up to 100 steps), hotkeys and a right-click menu
- Version history: automatic and named versions, restorable at any time
- Export and import as a file (.riglayer.json) including images, alerts and logo rotations, plus duplicating overlays
- 15 fonts hosted on the Riglayer server (no requests to Google), plus animations for showing and hiding
Elements for your overlay
Every element has its own settings and can be hidden, locked and animated.
- Basics: text box (with variables such as follower count, viewers, title, category or counter value) and image or GIF
- Displays: clock and countdown to a point in time, shape (rectangle, circle, line, gradient), “Latest” (latest follower, sub, cheerer)
- Timers and counters: score, multi-score, progress bar (also automatic from the follower or sub count), hearts (also in pixel style), timer as countdown or stopwatch
- Media: YouTube video or Twitch clip with volume, pause and resume; sound (MP3, OGG, WAV) as a soundboard
- Twitch: chat box and alerts; games: quiz and tournament; logos: logo rotation for sponsors and partners
Live sync with OBS
Every overlay has its own link. You add it to OBS as a browser source, and after that you never have to touch OBS again.
- Real time (default): every change in the editor is visible in OBS immediately
- Only after saving: OBS shows only the last saved version; you rebuild in peace and release with “Save” (Ctrl+S) or discard the changes
- Counters, timers, videos and sounds stay live-controllable in both modes
- Several overlays per channel (up to 25), each in Full HD, HD or WQHD
- Indicator whether an overlay is currently open somewhere (“OBS connected”)
Twitch alerts
Alerts are created from Twitch events (EventSub) and appear live in the overlay. You maintain their look and texts on a separate page and use them in as many overlays as you like.
- Eight events with their own texts and placeholders such as name, tier, months, bits or reward
- Per event: minimum amount, separate texts per sub tier, image or GIF and sound with volume and preview
- Alert queue: pause, resume, skip, repeat, clear – also via Stream Deck
- Test button per event so you can see the alert without a real event
- Triggers (“If … then …”): events or chat messages fire alerts, sounds, counters or channel actions
Chat box with emotes and badges
The chat box shows your channel's chat in the overlay. Two looks are available: one like twitch.tv and a dense look in the style of Chatterino.
- Twitch badges, name colors and emotes; plus 7TV, BetterTTV and FrankerFaceZ emotes (can be turned off)
- Messages either fade out after a few seconds or stay visible
- The number of messages adapts to the height of the box
Counters, timers and chat commands
Everything that changes during the broadcast can be controlled live without opening the editor. Simultaneous clicks from several people are not lost.
- Chat commands like !deaths, !deaths +3 or !deaths set 10 change a counter; you decide who may use them (channel owner, mods, VIPs, subs, everyone)
- Controls page with big buttons, designed for phones and installable as an app
- Hotkeys on the computer, Stream Deck links for counters, timers, videos, sounds, alerts, quizzes and tournaments
- Timers run on the server clock, so every display shows the same time
Quiz and tournaments
Both appear as an element in the overlay and are run live by you or your team.
- Quiz: multiple-choice questions (2 to 4 answers) and free text, time limit, points with time bonus, leaderboard; the correct answer only appears in the overlay after the reveal
- Tournaments: knockout format with 2 to 64 participants (byes, third-place match, best of 1/3/5/7) or round robin with a table
- Both can be controlled via Stream Deck
OBS control
The Controls page talks to your OBS via OBS WebSocket. Your OBS is never reachable from the internet.
- Direct connection from the browser to OBS (WebSocket) for yourself
- OBS bridge as a browser dock in OBS, so mods and editors can also switch scenes and mute sources (rights assigned individually)
- Switch for the overlay sound in the OBS audio mixer
Team, rights and log
You work alone or with helpers. Everyone sees and may do only what you allow.
- Your own roles (up to 20) with fine-grained rights, invitations via link
- Twitch moderators and editors automatically get the role you set for them
- Log: who changed what and when
Channel tools and statistics
The most important Twitch actions are available right in Riglayer.
- Change title, category and tags, save presets, set markers, create clips
- Chat modes, announcements, shoutouts, raids; create and run polls and predictions
- Community overview (followers, subscribers, VIPs, moderators, banned users)
- Statistics per broadcast: viewer peak and average, follower growth, development over time
Privacy and accessibility
Riglayer only collects what is needed to operate it.
- Sign-in only with Twitch; Twitch shows you every permission beforehand. You can disconnect at any time on Twitch
- No tracking or analytics services, no ads, fonts from our own server
- Data export and account deletion in the settings
- Keyboard accessible; contrasts and labels for screen readers are checked automatically against WCAG 2.2 AA (not a certification)
